Literacy is an important skill to learn how-to live-in today's society. Literacy helps you communicate with others. Literacy allows you to create a sense of self. Literacy is important to a child's development. According to Reading Rockets, "Reading aloud to children at an early age is the most effective way to help them expand their vocabulary and recognize written words. Reading also stimulates a child's imagination and expands his or her understanding of the world."
